President Barack Obama’s Advice for Getting Involved in the Inauguration

I just received an email from Barack Obama with his advice for authentic ways to get involved in the Inauguration.

In it he says:

“We've put together an inaugural full of great events. I want you to be a part of the celebration -- whether you're traveling to Washington, D.C., or staying at home in your community. I've recorded a short video about all the ways that you can get involved in the upcoming events. Watch the video and sign up to bring the Inauguration to your community.

This inauguration isn't about me. It's about all of us.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee is hard at work organizing the most open and accessible inauguration in our nation's history. We want every American to share in the celebration of change.

There are a number of ways for you to get involved in your community,

· from taking part in the national day of service on January 19th,

· to hosting a house party on January 20th -- your own Inaugural Ball.

· Sign up for text updates.

Watch the video, and sign up today to celebrate the Inauguration in your community: http://www.pic2009.org/yourinauguration

Thank you,

Barack

I encourage innovative educators to work with their students to really getting involved and sign up. Have your class host a viewing party and arrange their own inaugural ball! Sign up for service with your students. And, yes, sign up for text updates on your phone and have a student in charge of sharing and reporting them.
